Opera in Concert presents two short comic operas on the subject of education; in Christoph Fehre’s “The Schoolmaster” an inept teacher tries to control his class of unruly children, and Emmanuel Chabrier’s “Une Education Manqueé (A Deficient Education)” focuses on a young married couple whose education lacked a crucial subject – “the birds and the bees”! The performance will take place on Friday, November 17 at 8 pm in Kurth Hall at the Sammons Center in Dallas. “The Schoolmaster will be sung in English, and “Une Education Manqueé” will be sung in French, with English dialogue. Performers include soprano Jocelyn Hansen, mezzo Lauren McNeese and bass-baritones Edward Crafts and John Kuether. Stephen Dubberly is pianist and music director.
